Anthrologica - Anthropology of Global Health

London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

Since 2008, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in partnership with the Child Sight Foundation in Dhaka, has been engaged in the development, testing, validation and evaluation of the Key Informant Method to identify children with disability living in the community in Bangladesh. As part of this larger project, Anthrologica conducted a detailed qualitative study in two rural districts of Bangladesh (Natore and Sirajganj).

The aim was twofold: to identify and assess barriers to the uptake of healthcare referrals amongst children with disability; and to recommend ways in which the rate of referral uptake could be increased in a developing South Asian context.
