CMAM Forum

Technical brief

Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) has been adopted by over 60 countries to hep combat acute malnutrition in children under five years. However, the essential community element of the CMAM ‘package’ is often lacking and the creation and reinforcement of sustainable linkages between the community and health services rarely considered. Anthrologica produced a technical brief for the CMAM Forum to emphasise the importance of the community component, highlight the extent to which it is currently neglected and identify ways in which communities can be more systematically involved in integration programming.
