Anthrologica - Anthropology of Global Health

Save the Children

Against the backdrop of Save the Children’s Every One Campaign, ‘Quality care for mothers and babies at the time of birth and immediate post-partum period’ aimed to reduce the maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in poor rural communities in Jigawa and Lagos states by 2015. Anthrologica was commissioned to fulfil one of the programme’s central objectives, ‘to conduct and publish qualitative research into national and state-led barriers to scaling up mother and newborn care interventions and to undertake analyses of successful interventions provided by Save the Children and other partners’. The study included national and sub-national level policy and decision makers, health sector NGOs and the Ministry of Health. The project took place from February-April 2013.
