Helen Smith

is Anthrologica’s Chief Executive Officer and provides technical and managerial oversight across our portfolio.  Helen has held senior roles and consultancy positions in a range of global health research and funding institutions, including the National Institute for Health and Care Research and Malaria Consortium. She has a PhD in international health from the University of Liverpool and has worked for many years leading and delivering research projects, technical assistance and teaching in international health. 
 

She has specialist skills in qualitative methods applied to health systems and services research.  Her research interests and expertise include maternal and newborn health, tropical disease prevention and the social and behavioural aspects of provision, use and quality of health care. Helen has led multiple projects and evidence syntheses to inform WHO guidelines including qualitative evidence syntheses, rapid reviews, scoping reviews.  She is based in the UK.
